LEPLAE Charles (Louvain 1903 - Brussels 1961)
Traditional Belgian sculptor. Studied at the Academy of Louvain and later in 1929 in Paris with Charles Despiau, whose influence is clearly visible in his work. Made numerous medals.
The inscription gives the names of the painters Van Eyck, Brueghel and Rubens and of the composers de Lassus, Franck and Grétry, with the Greek comment "Kteima es aei" which means "rich heritage for ever".
