28mm - Two struck in Silver by Bolen
The dies for this medal were struck in 1862. They were sold to Dr. Edwards, who may or may not have struck Silver examples. The dies passed to Cogan and possibly back to Bolen. Either Cogan or Bolen defaced, and possibly destroyed, the dies.
The piece pictured was offered for sale on Steve Hayden's website in the fall of 2010, where it did not sell for the asking price of $1700. In the Spring of 2012, Steve was offering the same piece for fixed price sale, with an asking price of $3250.
