JAB-06 AVOID THE EXTREMES OF PARTY SPIRT Oreide #1
|
28mm 75 struck
Dies engraved in 1862
Bolen claims the dies were destroyed after use. There are no known mules, so this claim is believed to be true. This is the first use by Bolen of the alloy "Oreide". It is a 95% copper and 5% tin alloy designed to simulate gold. Many examples have a beautiful golden tone to them.
A NGC-65 example sold for $1058 in the June 2016 Heritage Sale, lot 98530. An AU example sold for $1410 in the August 2017 Stacks sale, lot 27.
