JAB-24a 1867 BOLEN CARD Tin

This is the variety with Bolen's name beneath the bust. The obverse die was cut in 1867 and was destroyed, as reported in the 1881 Mercer's Numismatic directory. The reverse die was cut in 1865. It is currently in the ANS collection. There were only 15 pieces struck in tin and there were no additional restrikes.
The piece pictured is silver plated tin and was once part of the Q.D. Bowers collection. A Choice Unc. example sold in the Stacks January 2011 auction for $299, lot 6612.
