JAB-25 WASHINGTON / UNION LIBERTY Brass
25mm - 1 struck by Bolen

Both dies were cut in 1867 and traded to J.W. Kline in 1872. It is not known whether the dies still exist.

Bolen struck 1 examples in Brass. Kline struck an unknown number in this metal. It is easy to tell the Kline restrikes from the Bolen originals. The Kline strikes are only 1.5 to 2.0 mm thick. The Bolen pieces range from 2.25 to 3.0mm in thickness.

The reverse legend is from Washington's Farewell Address issued on September 17, 1796. He did not deliver the address in public.

The piece is very rare. I have only seen one example offered for sale since 1996 and that was the piece pictured, which was acquired in an EBAY Sale in October 2014.
